THE REGULATED CLASSROOM: Answering the “Now what?” Question

When educators learn about ACES (adverse childhood experiences) and their impact on the brain, the body, and behavior, they often remark, “well…now what?”  In this interactive workshop, participants learn how to create a classroom that generates psychological safety and invites emotional and behavioral regulation via the nervous system.  Participants will play with "sensory tools" designed to regulate the nervous system.  Likewise, they will learn how to embed four kinds of classroom exercises ("Connectors, Activators, Soothers, Affirmations") that increase psychological safety, quiet the primitive brain, and build neurological connections to the frontal cortex (the conscious, "thinking" part of the brain).
