Building a Trauma Informed System

Many knowledgeable about ACES/trauma remain focused on the individual that has experienced adversity. Although important, this workshop takes a deeper dive into understanding how trauma and adversity gets “locked” in the body and manifests in social systems. Traditional approaches to treating trauma have been client/patient focused, psychotropic medication dependent, and cognitive/ behavioral in emphasis. Yeah, that’s so 2005. It means acknowledging that current practices in public service sectors compound stress reactions rather than mitigate them. In this workshop, participants will explore various considerations for building a trauma informed system.
